Three companies have been awarded spots on a potential five-year, $2.6 billion contract to perform maintenance, repair and modernization work on U.S. Navy surface combatant and amphibious warfare vessels.
BAE Systems, General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) NASSCO subsidiary and Marine Hydraulics International will help maintain six classes of warships that are visiting or stationed at a naval base in Norfolk, Virginia, the Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday.
Each contractor will work to support DDG destroyers, CG guided missile cruisers and LSD, LPD, LHA and LHD class amphibious ships with a $10, 000 minimum guarantee per contract.
The obligated amount of $60, 000 at the time of award is from the Navy’s fiscal 2016 operations and maintenance funds.
DoD expects BAE, General Dynamics NASSCO and Marine Hydraulics to finish work by February 2021.
