The U.S. Army has awarded 170 companies positions on a potential 10-year, $8.27 billion contract to help the service research and develop chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense systems.
The hybrid contract also covers R&D work on high-yield explosive defense platforms, equipment, material, supplies and other technology for the Joint Enterprise Research, Development, Acquisition and Production and Procurement program, the Defense Departmentsaid Wednesday.
The Army Contracting Command received 178 proposals for the contract through an online solicitation and will obligate funds and assign work locations upon award of each task order.
Work under the contract will run through Oct. 3, 2027, according to DoD.
