Zscaler has secured Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program certification at the high baseline for a cloud service offering designed to help government customers secure access to private information technology applications.
The company said Wednesday Zscaler Private Access received the FedRAMP High Authority to Operate designation after completing a critical security control assessments meant to verify its ability to protect sensitive and unclassified government data in cloud environments.
“Federal CIOs are focused on giving employees the ability to meet the nation’s needs while working from home. The telework surge has placed an immediate focus on providing and securing remote connections, but working from home is a new normal that requires a new resiliency for the future as well,” said Stephen Kovac, vice president of global government and head of corporate compliance at Zscaler.
He added that the service seeks to help agencies accelerate deployment of a zero trust remote access platform to secure information.
ZPA, which uses a zero trust access technology to secure connection between authorized remote users and private applications, is designed to also comply with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s Trusted Internet Connection 3.0 guidelines for coronavirus-related telework.
Kovac recently spoke to ExecutiveBiz about the new guidance and how it will assist with the public sector’s remote work.
“I praise the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for the TIC 3.0 Interim Telework Guidance. This was a very smart and well-timed move. It shows that they’re engaged and understand the critical, pressing Federal agency and industry problems,” he noted in the interview.
