The Transiting Exoplanet Survey satellite is scheduled for liftoff in August 2017 on board a Falcon 9 v1.1 launch vehicle, NASA said Tuesday.
The three-year mission aims to detect a sample of exoplanets in the solar system by obtaining samples of stars.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology leads the TESS mission and the Explorers Program at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center oversees the program.
