ITT Exelis (NYSE: XLS) has won $25 million order to provide its ground and airborne radio system for a foreign military sales agreement, the company said Friday.
Exelis has received $451 million in orders to date under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, which the company won in 2008 from the Army Communications-Electronics Command.
“This order builds on the customer’s substantial Exelis-installed radio product base in a very challenging security environment, ” said Ken Harrison, vice president of the international night vision and tactical communications systems business area. “We will continue to work hard to fulfill U.S. and allied communications requirements with our tactical radio products.”
Under the government-to-government transaction, the country will acquire Exelis’ International Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System, very high frequency base stations and vehicle-based systems in single and dual-radio configurations.
The country will also receive Spearhead VHF Handheld Radios, unit- and intermediate-level spares, installation services and support from field service representatives.
Spearhead radios are designed to provide dismounted soldiers voice and data with GPS services.
More than 600, 000 radios have been delivered to the U.S. and 30 other countries.
Exelis also is competing for task orders to provide the U.S. Army contract hardware, software and engineering services for communications systems under a $10 billion contract.
