Will Cocos has been promoted to executive vice president and general manager of U.S. government business at Vantor, the former Maxar Technologies announced Wednesday. He succeeds Susanne Hake, who is stepping down from the role.
What Will Cocos Do in His New Role?
Cocos will oversee Vantor’s largest business unit, taking charge of sales, program management, customer success, engineering, communications and government relations. His focus will center on the defense, intelligence and civil government communities, working to get mission-ready spatial intelligence capabilities into the hands of warfighters and government operators more quickly.
Vantor CEO Dan Smoot said Cocos brings operational experience, transformation leadership and an understanding of the company’s direction to the new role.
“He understands what it means to rely on intelligence in high-consequence environments, and he knows how to turn strategy and advanced technology into capabilities that work in the real world,” Smoot added.
Who Is Will Cocos?
Cocos is a senior executive with a background spanning the technology, manufacturing and consulting industries, along with military service. He most recently served as chief transformation officer, where he helped shape the company’s value creation plan while overseeing sales operations, partnerships and mergers and acquisitions.
His responsibilities also extended to Vantor’s international business, where he supported partners operating in conflict zones, giving him insight into changing battlefield conditions and customer requirements.
What Experience Does Cocos Bring to Vantor?
Before joining Vantor, Cocos spent over four years at Comar, where he was senior vice president of strategy and marketing, general manager and VP of M&A and value creation. He was also a partner at Boston Consulting Group, working in the firm’s transformation and operations practices with clients in engineered products and aerospace and defense.
Before joining the private sector, Cocos served in the military from 2005 to 2013. He is a former U.S. Navy SEAL officer with combat experience in Afghanistan and Iraq.
