- CesiumAstro has purchased radio frequency system-on-chip company Jariet Technologies
- The consolidation combines CesiumAstro’s software-defined communications expertise with Jariet’s millimeter-wave RF-SoC technologies
- CesiumAstro acquired artificial intelligence firm Vidrovr prior to buying Jariet
CesiumAstro announced Monday that it has acquired Jariet Technologies, a semiconductor company focused on millimeter-wave radio frequency system-on-chip designs, in a move meant to deepen the space communications and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance provider’s control over its full technology stack.
The deal folds Jariet’s chip-design expertise directly into CesiumAstro’s operations, giving the company in-house semiconductor capabilities to pair with its existing work in software-defined communications, phased-array antennas, payloads and satellite platforms. CesiumAstro said the combination is intended to speed up development timelines while trimming size, weight, power needs, cost and overall system complexity for both space-based and terrestrial applications.
What Did Company Executives Say About the Acquisition?
“This acquisition brings a foundational semiconductor capability into CesiumAstro. Combined with our expertise in software-defined communications, active phased arrays, payloads, and satellite platforms, Jariet strengthens our ability to deliver differentiated, high-performance systems at scale,” said Shey Sabripour, founder and CEO of CesiumAstro.
Meanwhile, Charles Harper, CEO of Jariet Technologies, explained: “By combining our advanced semiconductor innovation in high-speed data converter transceivers and digital beamforming technologies with CesiumAstro’s world-class defense and satellite systems expertise, we will accelerate the delivery of next-generation phased array satellite solutions.”
What Are CesiumAstro’s Plans After the Jariet Technologies Acquisition?
The two companies plan to jointly develop new application-specific integrated circuits by merging Jariet’s semiconductor and RF background with CesiumAstro’s experience across communications, phased arrays, payloads and space systems, to serve commercial, government and defense customers.
The acquisition follows CesiumAstro’s earlier purchase of Vidrovr, an artificial intelligence company focused on real-time multimodal signal analysis, which had already expanded the company’s capacity to weave AI into its communications and ISR products. With Jariet now part of the portfolio, CesiumAstro extends its reach further down the technology stack, from RF semiconductors and signal conversion through payloads, satellites, onboard processing and mission systems.
