Peraton has appointed longtime defense technology executive Steve Kropac as vice president and general manager of Peraton Labs, continuing a series of leadership moves aimed at expanding the company’s advanced technology and national security capabilities.
Kropac will oversee daily operations and growth strategy for Peraton Labs, a research and development organization focused on telecommunications, cybersecurity, electronic warfare and emerging national security technologies, Peraton said Wednesday. He will also help support increasing demand for the company’s agentic artificial intelligence capabilities.
What Experience Does Steve Kropac Bring to Peraton Labs?
Kropac brings three decades of experience in telecommunications engineering; cloud computing; EW; 4G and 5G technologies; and command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting capabilities, or C5-ISRT.
Most recently, he served as chief technology officer and head of the technology solutions division at Chesapeake Technology International, a Parsons company focused on open platforms and mission applications for government customers.
Before joining CTI in 2025, Kropac spent nearly six years at CACI International as vice president and lead technologist for cyber operations research and engineering, overseeing more than 40 programs and teams distributed across six states.
Earlier in his career, he spent more than 16 years at LGS Innovations, where he served as vice president and CTO for cyber before the company was acquired by CACI in 2019. He also worked as a senior software engineer at Bellcore and SAIC, supporting the design and implementation of telecommunications switching systems and integrated remote digital terminals.
“Steve’s deep technical expertise across cyber, telecommunications, and electronic warfare, combined with his track record of translating cutting-edge R&D into real-world capabilities makes him the right leader to take Peraton Labs to the next level,” said Todd Borkey, chief technology officer at Peraton.
Kropac holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and has also completed doctoral studies in computer science at the university.
“I am honored to join Peraton and contribute to the company’s mission of leveraging unparalleled tools and technology to address our nation’s most critical national security challenges,” Kropac said.
What Other Leadership Changes Has Peraton Made Recently?
Kropac’s appointment follows several recent executive hires as Peraton reshapes its leadership team under Chairman and CEO Steve Schorer, a 2026 Wash100 Award recipient.
Last week, Peraton named former Army Under Secretary Gabe Camarillo president of its defense sector. Earlier this month, the company appointed Vishal Tulsian president of the health, state and local sector and named Bridget Coulon chief human resources officer.
In February, Peraton appointed former SAIC executive Bob Genter, a previous Wash100 Award winner, as president and chief operating officer.
