Jim Travis Assumes New Responsibilities as Cypress International’s Air Force Programs VP

Cypress International has named Jim Travis, a retired Air Force colonel, as vice president of Air Force programs.

The company said Travis is in charge of synchronizing operational needs, acquisition approaches and budget planning to support industry partners in delivering executable programs and operational capabilities aligned with Air Force modernization efforts.

Air Force and Department of War leaders will discuss upcoming opportunities for industry to support defense initiatives at the Potomac Officers Club’s 2026 Air and Space Summit on July 30. Who Is Jim Travis?

Travis brings to the role over 30 years of military service, with leadership experience at both the squadron and group levels. His most recent role at the Air Force was as director of strategic partnerships and outreach for the Air Force Warfighting Integration Capability Office, according to his LinkedIn.

He joined Cypress in 2019 as director of Air Force programs and strategic innovation.

The executive earned a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy.
