Fortreum has acquired Kovr.AI, an AI-native cybersecurity compliance platform, to combine automated compliance capabilities with independent assessment services for federal and regulated industry customers.
Fortreum said Monday the deal brings together its role as an authorized assessor for programs such as the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification with Kovr.AI’s platform, designed to streamline compliance workflows across multiple frameworks.

The 2026 Cyber Summit, hosted by Potomac Officers Club on May 21, will feature a panel titled “AI in Cyber Defense: From Intelligent Detection to Autonomous Resilience,” examining how artificial intelligence is being applied to strengthen cybersecurity operations. Register now!
What Capabilities Does the Combined Offering Deliver?
The combined offering is designed to support the full compliance life cycle — from readiness and documentation to formal assessment and continuous monitoring. Beyond FedRAMP and CMMC 2.0, the integrated service is engineered for alignment with the Department of War’s Security Requirements Guide, the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Cybersecurity Framework 2.0, and GovRAMP.
Kovr.AI’s architecture, which has achieved FedRAMP Moderate authorization, allows organizations to create security controls and evidence once and map them across multiple compliance frameworks simultaneously, reducing duplication of effort. Fortreum’s practitioners then provide independent validation and attestation of that compliance posture.
The platform also incorporates an agentic AI capability, known as Agent Artemis, which aggregates compliance data from cloud environments, security tools and documentation repositories into a unified interface. The system offers zero data retention and includes governance controls requiring human validation of AI-generated outputs.
How Does Kovr.AI Fit Into Federal Cybersecurity Requirements?
Securing FedRAMP Moderate authorization means Kovr.AI can be deployed in federal environments handling controlled unclassified information.
The company has gained traction within the defense and national security ecosystem, including deployments with the U.S. Air Force and Space Force, and availability through the DOW’s Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace for AI technologies.
Kovr.AI’s platform is expected to improve the speed and depth of Fortreum’s assessment preparation and execution. “This acquisition is about doing AI right—making our assessments better, not just faster,” said James Leach, CEO and co-founder of Fortreum.
“With Agent Artemis and a platform already validated by the national security community and deployed across leading federal organizations, we are bringing a level of rigor and capability that simply did not exist before in this market—paired with the human expertise that makes every finding credible,” he added.
Through the acquisition, existing Kovr.AI users gain access to Fortreum’s assessment services, while Fortreum clients can adopt the AI-driven platform to support compliance readiness and ongoing monitoring.
