Paul Tierney, a more than 25-year technology sales executive, has rejoined Dataminr as head of public sector.

Tierney announced his return to the artificial intelligence-driven threat intelligence provider in a LinkedIn post published Wednesday.

What Did Tierney Say About Agentic AI?

In his post, Tierney said public sector organizations continue to face the challenge of identifying clear, actionable signals that cut through large volumes of information to support decision-making.

“We are advancing into the era of Agentic AI, where real-time signals evolve from passive alerts into the definitive context and clarity required to drive a response when every second counts,” he said. “We are in a new frontier of AI-driven capabilities, and I’m ready to get to work ensuring the public sector has the unmatched situational awareness required to protect what matters most.”

In an article published on Dataminr’s website, Tierney discussed how public sector organizations are using AI to improve cybersecurity, coordination and real-time decision-making across missions.

Who Is Paul Tierney?

Tierney most recently served as president of U.S. operations at military intelligence provider Janes.

Before joining Janes, he was senior vice president of public sector sales for North America at Dataminr, where he oversaw growth initiatives for public sector and nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and Canada.

According to his LinkedIn profile, he held leadership roles at Mediware Information Systems, Harmony Information Systems and Blue Ridge Networks. He also served as a sales executive at Cyveillance and a consultant at PwC.

Tierney also served in the U.S. Navy for six years as a surface warfare officer and liaison officer.
