What Capabilities Is SSA Looking For?

According to a request for information published Friday on SAM.gov, SSA is looking for vendors capable of providing comprehensive IT support products and services aligned with the agency’s systems development life cycle. Areas of interest include database and data administration, software engineering and management support, software and web lifecycle enhancement, and systems administration and security.

The agency said these services will support the maintenance, development and evolution of its mission-critical IT and telecommunications systems. Responses to the RFI are due Feb. 13.

Why Is SSA Seeking Industry Input?

SSA said the information collected will be used to develop a market assessment report to inform future budget planning and procurement activities in preparation for an anticipated increase in workloads driven by more than 70 million participants across its entitlement programs, including the Old-Age, Survivors and Disability Insurance and the Supplemental Security Income. SSA will rely on expanded automation and continued modernization of its IT systems, particularly within internet-based environments, to address increased demand, evolving technology requirements and legislative mandates.
