The Department of Transportation’s John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, also known as the Volpe Center, is seeking technology and engineering services providers to support its transportation projects. The DOT said in a notice posted on SAM.gov Friday that it intends to use the General Services Administration’s Multiple Award Schedule contract to procure transportation technology and engineering mission solutions, or TTEMS.
The anticipated period of performance is five years, with work to be provided off-site or on-site at the Volpe Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Volpe Center Functions
Established in 1970, the Volpe Center provides multidisciplinary and multimodal transportation expertise to support the needs and strategic goals of the DOT and the Secretary of Transportation.
The organization also conducts safety and security assessments across all modes of transportation and provides an objective federal perspective on crashes or program effectiveness.
The center also performs engineering and technology deployments to ensure that the nation’s transportation infrastructure can adapt to future trends, such as advanced air mobility, uncrewed aircraft systems and space travel.

The Transportation Department will host a pre-quotation conference virtually via Microsoft Teams on Oct. 3, starting at 11 p.m. Eastern time. Interested parties may register to participate in the event until Oct. 1.
