Barella brings to the role extensive experience leading technology companies across various sectors.
At Takeda, he served as SVP and chief technology officer for over six years. In the role, he worked on projects related to data, artificial intelligence and digital technologies to modernize the healthcare industry.
Before Takeda, he was at AstraZeneca, where he led as VP of enterprise architecture. In his two years at the pharmaceutical manufacturing firm, Barella developed and oversaw the execution of an enterprise-wide digital transformation road map and digital strategy.
The executive also held leadership positions at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, HCSC, Accenture, Baxter Healthcare, JP Morgan Chase, Avanade and Abbott Laboratories.
