Lockheed Secures $1.4B Navy Contract for Submarine EW Tech

Lockheed Martin has received a U.S. Navy contract worth approximately $1.36 billion to produce AN/BLQ-10 electronic warfare systems for the military branch’s submarines.

The Department of Defense said Monday Naval Sea Systems Command conducted a full and open competition for the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract and will obligate $2 million in fiscal 2025 shipbuilding and conversion funds to meet the contract’s minimum guarantee.

Contract Scope

The IDIQ contract has a base amount of $551 million and covers engineering and technical support for AN/BLQ-10 EW systems on the Navy’s newly constructed and in-service submarines.

Lockheed’s rotary and mission systems business will perform work in Syracuse, New York, through January 2030.

What Does AN/BLQ-10 Do?

The electronic warfare system is designed to provide the Navy with real-time situational awareness in the littoral battlespace.

AN/BLQ-10 rapidly receives, analyzes and transmits critical signals to the submarine commanding officer and processes hostile, friendly and neutral emissions.

The EW system provides submarine commanders with a full range of tools to support rapid reaction to dynamic situations.

Previous Awards

Lockheed secured a contract modification in January 2024 and a delivery order in February 2024 for AN-BLQ-10. Both were awarded under the $970.1 million IDIQ contract issued in early 2019.
