In a LinkedIn post announcing his promotion, Habtesion said he is excited to help lead transformation efforts as Lumen pursues its “mission to revolutionize the telecommunications industry.”
“I am thrilled to lead an exceptional security organization dedicated to safeguarding the world’s largest interconnected backbone, securing our products and services, and empowering our customers to execute their mission,” he commented.
In 2022, Habtesion joined Lumen as VP and deputy chief security officer.
Prior to Lumen, he spent nearly eight years at Discover Financial Services, where he served as senior director of information security and senior director of enterprise security and business resilience.
Habtesion also worked at the FBI and held various roles, including assistant section chief and special assistant to the assistant director in charge.
