NASA has started soliciting proposals as part of the on-ramp process for a potential five-year, $476 million contract to acquire Earth observation data derived from constellations of small satellites operated by commercial entities.
The space agency will conduct the on-ramping process for the Commercial SmallSat Data Acquisition indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract as a full and open competition, providing new vendors and awardees an opportunity to propose new data products and compete, according to a solicitation notice published Friday.
The data products to be procured from commercial sources through the multiple-award CSDA IDIQ contract seek to support NASA’s Earth science research and application activities.
The agency will also require offerors to comply with non-negotiable end-user license agreements to enable the shareability and dissemination of commercial data with other agencies and partners.
According to the request for proposals, the effective ordering period of any on-ramp contracts will kick off from the date of award and run through Nov. 15, 2028.
NASA expects to award contracts through the on-ramp process in June.
Proposals are due no later than March 25.
