He will continue to oversee a range of business operations at the Texas-based space transportation company including the production of the Alpha rocket for future launch missions and the establishment of the Propulsion Engines Center of Excellence, Firefly said Wednesday.
Previously, he was a vice president and a member of the portfolio strategy and optimization group at AE Industrial Partners, which owns a controlling stake in Firefly, and oversaw profit-and-loss functions at General Electric’s aerospace division.
Fermon will work with Justin Siebert, a former BAE Systems executive who joined Firefly as VP of operations and production.
His promotion comes after Firefly named Jim Bridenstine, former administrator of NASA, to the company’s advisory board and appointed Chris Emerson, former CEO at Airbus U.S. Space & Defense, a member of the board of directors.
