Gregg Burgess, former chief technology officer of the space systems business at Sierra Nevada Corp., been appointed vice president for space systems within General Atomics‘ electromagnetic systems group.
He will oversee GA-EMS’ portfolio of satellite systems and space technologies designed to work with laser-based radiofrequency and optical communications equipment, the company said Tuesday.
Burgess spent nearly nine years at SNC, where he also led business development activity for the aerospace contractor’s intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aviation and security segment in VP role.
Earlier in his career, he worked at Orbital Sciences Corp. in leadership positions that were responsible for advanced programs, national security systems, microsatellite technology and systems engineering.
