Viasat has been selected to help the Department of Defense assess weapon system architectures as part of a cybersecurity pilot program that will employ an analytics-based automation process.
Under a DOD contract, Viasat will work to identify vulnerabilities in key weapon components through cyber and software-defined radio threat assessments, the company said Wednesday.
The task also covers an analysis of system interfaces associated with internet of things, networking and radio frequency functions.
As the battlespace is modernizing quickly, and the use of commercial technologies and systems are being rapidly deployed in DoD’s infrastructure, performing robust vulnerability assessment tests is critical to identifying and addressing potential gaps in technology, as well as determining if platforms are potentially vulnerable to attack.” said Craig Miller, president of Viasat’s government systems business.
Work under the pilot program extends Viasat’s relationship with the department. In September, the company secured a pair of contracts under DOD’s Information Warfare Research Project to explore how 5G applications could support warfighters in modern combat environments.
