Civilian Intell Vet Neil Wiley Named ODNI Principal Executive; Richard Grenell Quoted

Neil Wiley, a more than three-decade national security veteran, has been appointed principal executive at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

He will assume the duties of principal deputy DNI until the Senate confirms a presidential nominee for the full-time job, ODNI said Wednesday.

DNI Richard Grenell said Wiley brings 35 years of professional experience to his new position and will help advance the agency's national security mission.

In his previous capacity, Wiley led the NIC’s analysis operations throughout the intelligence community to help inform policy development. He also spent four years at the Defense Intelligence Agency as director for analysis and led analytic activities across its regional, functional and scientific and technical intelligence components to support defense acquisition, military planning and policymaking functions.

He previously headed various offices at the DIA and held positions at U.S. European Command’s Joint Analysis Center.

Wiley was a surface line officer and an intelligence officer between 1983 and 2003, and received honors and awards and honors for his service.
