Boeing Gets $265M MDA Contract Modification to Help Update Missile Defense System's Comms Infrastructure

An industry team led by Boeing (NYSE: BA) has secured a three-year, $265.2M contract modification from the Missile Defense Agency to modernize communications equipment for the ground-based midcourse missile defense system.

Boeing, L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) and Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) will work to update the GMD communications network and in-flight interceptor communications system data terminals, the Department of Defense said Friday.

The team will also support integration of the platform’s fire control communications software build 8.

DoD noted the modification increases the cumulative value of the original contract from $10.94B to $11.21B and expects work under the award to conclude by Dec. 31, 2022.

Boeing and MDA demonstrated the performance of GMS to engage intercontinental ballistic missiles during a test that was held in March.
