Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) has received a $74.1M U.S. Navy contract modification for pre-operational support work on an electronic attack technology designed to jam signals and track multiple targets simultaneously. The company will complete the engineering, manufacturing and development phase of the Next Generation Jammer-Mid Band program as well as test and evaluate the pod system, the Department of Defense said Monday.
DoD noted the award modifies a $1.01B contract the service branch awarded in 2016. The cost-plus-incentive-fee and cost-plus-fixed-fee modification covers equipment and testing support, repairs, supply chain management and organizational-level maintenance services. Naval Air Systems Command will obligate $3.2M at the time of award.
Work will take place in Mississippi, Texas, California, Massachusetts and Indiana through December 2021. NGJ-MB uses an open systems architecture and operates with the E/A-18 Growler, a carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft. Raytheon delivered the first pod in July for Navy testing purposes.
