Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has received a potential one-year, $330M contract to provide systems support services for the U.S. Air Force‘s E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System aircraft.
The JSTARS Total System Support Responsibility contract tasks the company to work with the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center to provide integrated systems and sustainment services to the 116th and 461st Air Control Wings that support the Air Force’s fleet of 16 JSTARS aircraft, Northrop said Monday.
Under the agreement, the company will be responsible for program management, aircrew and maintenance training, technical engineering and customer support, technical data and publications, program depot maintenance, and supply chain and spares management operations.
Northrop will perform work through Oct. 31, 2019, under the contract.
Jane Bishop, vice president of military aircraft surveillance programs at Northrop’s aerospace systems unit, said the company has supported the JSTARS mission in the past three decades and completed the Air Force Tactical Receive System-Ruggedized modernization effort in one year.
She added that the company is now integrating a fifth-generation update into the JSTARS fleet’s central computers.
JSTARS utilizes synthetic aperture radar imagery and wide-area moving target detection to identify and engage surface targets from standoff distances.
