Raytheon has secured a $282M undefinitized contract from the U.S. Air Force to modernize and deliver AN/DAS-4 electro-optical/infrared sensor systems.
Under the predominantly fixed-price-incentive contract, Raytheon will upgrade 40 DAS-1A turret units to a DAS-4 configuration and provide 127 AN/DAS-4 Multi-Spectral Targeting System Model B high-definition and target location accuracy turrets, the Defense Departmentsaid Friday.
The company will also deliver initial shop replaceable unit spares and associated data in addition to providing production support for capacity increase operations.
The Air Force will obligate $1.7M, $164.8M and $155.3M from fiscal 2016, 2017 and 2018 aircraft procurement funds, respectively.
According to DoD, the service branch will obligate only 49.9 percent of the aircraft procurement funds at the time of award and work will take place in McKinney, Texas through Sept. 30, 2020.
AN/DAS-4 is a variant of the MTS family designed for long-range surveillance, laser designation and tracking functions in support of tri-service and NATO laser-guided munitions as well as Griffin and Paveway missiles.
MTS sensors can be deployed onto unmanned aerial systems, rotary-wing aircraft and fixed-wing platforms.
