Matt Coose, chief executive officer of Qmulos, a cybersecurity and information technology compliance firm, has said government agencies that aim to build up their cybersecurity posture should adopt data analytics in order to automate the process of converting data into real-time technical evidence.
Coose wrote that such evidence can help agencies verify how effective their security controls are.
He noted that agencies can detect insider threats, perform continuous monitoring and investigate incidents at the granular level, among other cyber capabilities, if they implement a basic approach to data tagging.
The adoption of real-time adaptive responses that can be coordinated across risk management applications and cyber defense platforms can help speed up the decision-making process for analysts, he said.
In other words, automation on a flexible, adaptive platform enables agencies to align real-time control monitoring and risk management with operational security, Coose noted.
