A joint venture of Huntington Ingalls Industries‘ (NYSE:HII) SN3 subsidiary and BWX Technologies (NYSE: BWXT) has received a potential 10-year, $1.39 billion contract from the National Nuclear Security Administration to clean up contaminants in the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
HII said Wednesday the joint venture named Newport News Nuclear BWXT Los Alamos will perform work at the laboratory’s 36-square mile site in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
The contract has a five-year base period, a three-year option period and another option for a two-year extension.
LANL was established in 1943 to primarily perform nuclear weapons research and development as part of the Manhattan Project.
