The State Department has given Poland the green light to buy the third configuration of the Patriot missile system equipped with the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System and related equipment from the U.S. government under a potential $10.5 billion foreign military sales agreement.
Raytheon (NYSE: RTN), Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) will serve as prime contractors in the FMS transaction that covers AN/MPQ-65 radar sets, radar interface units modification kits, M903 launching stations and engagement control stations for Patriot configuration 3+ with updated sensors, the Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Friday.
Poland will use the IBCS-enabled Patriot missile platform to impede regional threats, build up its missile defense capability and support its terroritorial integrity defense efforts.
The proposed sale also includes Patriot Advanced Capabilty-3 Missile Segment Enhancement missiles, IBCS software, PAC-3 MSE test missiles, multifunctional information distribution systems/low volume terminals, electrical power plants, integrated fire control network, training resources, communications equipment, technical support, engineering, systems integration and checkout and logistics services.
The proposed deal would require the deployment of 55 contractor and 42 government representatives to the European country to provide training, system checkout, equipment fielding and logistics support.
DSCA said it notified Congress of the potential deal Tuesday.
