October 27th Market Close: GovConIndex Closes Down as S&P500 and NASDAQ Composite Set New Highs


The Executive Mosaic GovCon Index (GCI) continued to drop for the fifth consecutive day to close at 108.162 off 0.03 percent with the McKesson Corp. down 5.52 percent on the day. Advancing shares outpaced declining 2 to 1.

The three major indices all advanced for the day with the S&P500 and NASDAQ Composite reaching new highs. The S&P500 closed up 0.81 percent to 2,581.07, while the DJIA closed at 23,434.19 a positive 0.14 percent and the NASDAQ Composite surged 144.49 points to 6,701.26 up 2.20 percent as technology stocks posted significant gains.

WTI crude oil on the NY Mercantile Exchange took a positive jump to $53.97 per barrel up 2.50 percent.
