Chuck Yarbrough
Chuck Yarbrough, vice president of solutions management and marketing for data integration and analytics at Hitachi Vantaras Pentaho subsidiary, has said government agencies should implement data analytics tools to make data more actionable and facilitate the decision-making process.
Yarbrough wrote that self-service analytics tools work to empower non-technical users by helping them slice and dice data and create their own customized visualizations without the need for data scientists.
He noted that adopting internet of things-based analytics platforms could help agencies combine several data sets and generate a 360-degree view of data derived from sensors and other internet-connected devices.
Having a complete view of data could allow agencies to determine patterns and predict potential outcomes.
He said organizations seeking to become a digital enterprise should accelerate data capture processes and combine various data sources at scale.
Once that data environment is in place, agencies can move toward advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to enable better business decisions, predict outcomes, and ensure they are delivering the most appropriate insight into operations, Yarbrough added.
