October 19th Market Close: GovConIndex Closes Up and Major Indices Close Mixed

The Executive Mosaic GovCon Index (GCI) reversed its three consecutive days of decline to close up 0.150 percent to settle at 108.840. Advancing shares outpaced declining 18 to 12.

The three major indices closed mixed for the day with the S&P500 and DJIA climbing to new highs. The S&P500 closed up 0.03 percent to 2,562.10, while the DJIA remained above the 23,000 mark ending at 23,163.04 a positive 0.02 percent, and the NASDAQ Composite declined 0.29 percent to close at 6,605.07.

WTI crude oil on the NY Mercantile Exchange closed down 1.31 percent to $51.36 per barrel after being in the negative for most of the trading day from the market open price of $52.04.
