In observance of Independence Day the markets closed at 1:00 PM today and will be closed tomorrow.The Executive Mosaic GovCon Index (GCI) closed up 0.849 percent to 95.656 approaching a 30 day high. 25 of the 30 stocks that make up the Index where in the positive. Huntington Ingalls was near the top of the GCI posting a 2.89 percent gain with the announcement of two contract modifications totaling $438 million.
The major indices closed mixed on the day with the DJIA reaching a new record high and S&P500 up, driven by the Institute of Supply Management (ISM) released survey showing 15 of the 18 U.S. industries posting growth in June. The NASDAQ closed down as technology stocks declined.
WTI crude oil closed up sharply for the eighth consecutive day, to settle at $46.82 per barrel a positive 1.69 percent and an almost 10.0 percent gain for the eight day period.
