General Atomics has received a $195.2 million contract option to manufacture, assemble, test, inspect and checkout advanced arresting gear for the U.S. Navy‘s third Ford-class aircraft carrier.
The Defense Departmentsaid Thursday that General Atomics will support checkout spares, drawing, installation, repairs and technical data changes of the future USS Enterprise (CVN 80) shipset.
CVN 80 is the eighth U.S. naval vessel to bear its name and will continue the legacy of previous Enterprise vessels.
The Naval Air Systems Command will obligate $4 million from fiscal 2017 Navy shipbuilding conversion funds at the time of award.
General Atomics will perform work under the exercised option through September 2027 in Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.
