General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) Electric Boat subsidiary has been awarded a pair of contract modifications with a combined value of $176 million to maintain and repair the U.S. Navy‘s fast attack submarine USS Montpelier.
Electric Boat will also perform alterations, testing and routine work on USS Montpelier during the submarine’s scheduled interim dry docking, The Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday.
Work will occur the contractor’s shipyard in Groton, Connecticut, through March 2018.
The Navy will obligate the full amount of the modifications from its fiscal 2017 operations and maintenance funds at the time of award.
USS Montpelier (SSN 765) belongs to the military branch’s Los Angeles class of nuclear-powered submarines.
