The U.S. State Department has approved a potential $124.02 million sale of Mk-V Fast Patrol Boats and related equipment to Qatar under a foreign military sales agreement with United States Marine Inc. as the principal contractor.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday Qatar’s request also includes eight M2HB .50 caliber machine guns, forward looking infrared systems, MLG 27-millimeter gun systems, 27-millimeter ammunition, 27-millimeter target practice ammunition, .50 caliber ammunition and support equipment.
Qatar also will purchase publications, technical documentation, personnel training, U.S. government and contractor engineering, in-country support, technical and logistics support services.
Qatar plans to use the military systems for protection of sea-based infrastructure and maritime security operations.
