Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Patricia Horoho, a former army surgeon general and head of the branch’s medical command, will join Accenture‘s (NYSE: ACN) U.S. government services subsidiary on April 6 as leader of the defense health practice.
Accenture Federal Servicessaid Wednesday she will oversee the practice’s business strategy, growth and operations-related functions as the subsidiary is a partner with prime contractor Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) and Cerner on a multiyear, multibillion dollar contract for the Defense Department‘s electronic health record system integration program.
DoD selected the team last year for the project to help integrate a commercial EHR system across the Military Health System.
Horoho is a 33-year Army veteran who served as its surgeon general and led Army Medical Command for four years until her retirement from the military in December.
She holds the distinction of being the first female and first nurse to serve as Army Medical Command’s top officer.
We are fortunate to have her combined clinical expertise and executive leadership to help the Defense Department, Office of Veterans Affairs and other federal agencies strengthen and expand their integrated health services, said David Moskovitz, chief executive of Accenture Federal Services.
Horoho’s career also includes service as a special assistant to NATO coalition forces in Afghanistan as well as separate stints as commander of Western Regional Medical Command, Madigan Army Medical Center, Walter Reed Health Care System and DeWitt Army Community Hospital.
