BWX Technologies has appointed Chief Accounting Officer Mike Fitzgerald as interim chief financial officer.
The company said Monday Fitzgerald took on the position after Robb LeMasters stepped down as executive vice president and CFO.
LeMasters, who first joined BWXT’s board of directors in 2015, will continue to serve as a special adviser during the transition phase.
“Mike Fitzgerald has made an impressive impact on the company in a very short time, and I look forward to working with him in this expanded role,” said Rex Geveden, president and CEO of BWXT. “His depth of financial understanding and extensive corporate experience will ensure a smooth transition, and will support BWXT’s growth strategy and focus on operational excellence.”
Mike Fitzgerald’s Career Background
Fitzgerald brings to the role his experience in technical accounting, financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, and business process improvement across the government contracting sector and aerospace and defense industry.
In 2022, he joined BWXT as VP of finance and chief accounting officer, responsible for managing and reporting on the company’s financial operations on a daily basis.
Before joining the manufacturing and engineering contractor, the certified public accountant was managing director of MorganFranklin’s aerospace and defense practice.
The finance executive previously served as an audit senior manager at Deloitte & Touche.
He currently serves on the board of nonprofit organization CRi.
The James Madison University graduate has a master’s degree in business administration from Fitchburg State University.
