The Department of Defense’s Defense Microelectronics Activity, or DMEA, has commenced soliciting industry feedback for a potential $1 billion contract for its Advanced Technology Support Program V, or ATSP5.
According to the request for proposals posted on SAM.gov Tuesday, DMEA is planning to award a multiple award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with cost or fixed price task orders. Interested vendors have until April 4 to submit their responses.
What Is the Advanced Technology Support Program V Program
The ATSP5 program, managed by DMEA, is an initiative of the Department of Defense aimed at accelerating the acquisition, development and deployment of advanced technologies for the DOD and other federal government agencies. The comprehensive engineering development and transition program intends to develop capabilities that ensure existing systems adapt and remain operational against emerging threats. This includes strengthening the supply chain for microelectronics needed for developing advanced technologies. Furthermore, the program aims to promote the intelligent application of advanced technologies and enhance the performance of government systems to ensure proper response to traditional and irregular threats.
The ATSP5 is also intended to boost warfighting capabilities and address challenges such as system reliability, maintainability and obsolescence. It encompasses hardware and software development, including analysis, design, fabrication, prototyping, testing, integration and production. The program also supports development of processes to optimize the use of existing tools and resources, addresses the replacement of outdated components and promotes collaboration with technical experts.
