Oshkosh Defense Secures $215M in Army Orders for FMTV A2 Vehicles

Oshkosh’s defense business has received $214.8 million worth of orders from the U.S. Army for additional Family of Medium Tactical Vehicle A2, or FMTV A2, trucks and trailers.

“With fielding already underway this year, these additional orders build on the momentum of the FMTV A2 program and we’re eager for Soldiers to benefit from its enhanced mobility, protection, and payload capacity,” Pat Williams, chief programs officer for Oshkosh Defense, said in a statement published Wednesday.

The recent awards from Army Contacting Command-Detroit Arsenal include the first order for low velocity air drop, or LVAD, vehicles designed for rapid deployment in austere and contested environments.

The FMTV A2 LVAD vehicle is designed to meet a critical need for the airborne community and improve sustainment and strategic mobility operations.

“The FMTV A2 LVAD reinforces the U.S. Army’s commitment to equipping Soldiers with the capability they need, when and where they need it most,” Williams said. “We’re proud to provide these critical vehicles to the airborne community and support the U.S. Army with this urgent operational need.”

This family of vehicles has 19 variants and delivers increased payload capacity, helping to streamline operations and reduce logistical strain. FMTV A2 features stability control systems and an advanced suspension to improve mobility across challenging terrain.

The company said it expects a three-year contract extension in the spring for order years eight through 10.

Oshkosh Defense has secured orders for over 3,000 FMTV A2 vehicles since the award of the initial contract in 2018.
