Former DHS Tech Chief John Zangardi Joins ZeroFox Board of Directors

Cybersecurity company ZeroFox has added John Zangardi, two-time Wash100 Award winner, as a new member of its board of directors. Zangardi announced his new role in a LinkedIn post Thursday. 

“ZeroFox is at the forefront of defending organizations against evolving cyber threats. Their solutions in executive protection, phishing and fraud prevention, brand protection, dark web monitoring, and cyber play a critical role in safeguarding businesses and individuals,” he wrote. “I look forward to contributing to the company’s mission and working alongside an outstanding team to advance critical solutions in today’s complex digital landscape.”

John Zangardi’s Private Sector Career

Zangardi is a seasoned executive who most recently served as CEO at Redhorse, an Arlington, Virginia-headquartered company that provides data science tools powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning to government agencies. 

He also held the role of senior vice president at Leidos, where he fostered innovation and led development efforts in the areas of digital transformation, mission software, security and logistics. 

The executive also sits as a board member at Qualys, Absolute Software, Appgate, Duality Technologies, Commvault, Forcepoint and Redhorse. 

John Zangardi’s Public Sector Service

Before entering the private sector, Zangardi was appointed to leadership roles in the U.S. government. 

From 2017 to 2019, he was the chief information officer at the Department of Homeland Security. In this role, he oversaw the development and execution of the department’s technology refresh and consolidated network and security operations centers. 

He was the acting CIO and principal deputy CIO of the Department of Defense until November 2017. 

Earlier in his career, Zangardi served in the Navy, where he led as deputy assistant secretary of the Navy for over five years.
