Applied Intuition Buys Autonomy Software Provider EpiSys Science

Vehicle software supplier Applied Intuition has acquired autonomy software provider EpiSys Science, also known as EpiSci.

The companies said Thursday the move is part of a strategy to position Applied Intuition’s defense business as one of the leading developers of autonomy software for all-domain applications.

The acquisition deal will see EpiSci operate as Applied Intuition’s wholly-owned subsidiary. Its entire team, including co-founder and CEO Bo Ryu and co-founder Tamal Bose, will be retained.

Integrating AI

Applied Intuition plans to combine its simulation, validation and data management software suite with EpiSci’s tactical AI-powered software.

EpiSci has been part of simulation and live flight testing of drone swarms as part of the Naval Information Warfare Center’s Mission Autonomy Proving Grounds AFWERX programs and live maritime demonstrations.

“This acquisition marks a pivotal moment for Applied Intuition and the larger defense ecosystem. Integrating EpiSci’s technology into our arsenal of defense products reinforces our country’s military efforts on land, air, sea and space—strengthening our national security and Applied Intuition’s position as a leading defense autonomy company,” said Qasar Younis, co-founder and CEO of Applied Intuition.

“Applied Intuition’s acquisition will enable us to accelerate the deployment of advanced software-defined all-domain autonomy capabilities at the tempo of operational needs,” said Ryu.
