Tom Vecchiolla, a retired U.S. Navy pilot, a defense industry veteran and a previous Wash100 awardee, has joined the SSA board of directors of the U.K.-based defense technology company QinetiQ‘s U.S. arm.
In July 2020, the QinetiQ SSA board was formed after QinetiQ Group signed a special security agreement with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency to combine all of its defense and security operations in the U.S. under a single entity.
John Hillen, chair of the QinetiQ SSA Board and a previous Wash100 Award recipient, said in a statement published Tuesday Vecchiolla’s expert knowledge of national security gained through his experience in public service, military and defense industry will help the company grow in the U.S. market.
Vecchiolla serves as a director at Gencor Industries.
His industry career included time serving as chairman and CEO of First Light Acquisition Group, president and chief executive of ST Engineering North America and president of Raytheon International.
He spent over two decades in the Navy, where he commanded a helicopter squadron in San Diego, and served as an adviser to former Senators Olympia Snowe and William Cohen on military affairs and national security matters.
