HP Federal’s Matt Barry on Significance of Endpoint Security by Design

Matt Barry, chief operating officer at HP Federal, noted that threat actors can use endpoints as vectors that could enable them to infiltrate an organization’s network and highlighted the importance of security by design to ensure the security of such endpoints and safeguard government and contractor systems.

“When we design more secure solutions upfront, that security carries through the entire life cycle,” Barry wrote in an article published on Carahsoft.com.

Federal agencies looking to manage risks in endpoints and improve resilience in the event of a cyberattack should use tools that could enable them to minimize their attack surface and strengthen their cybersecurity posture.

Some of those tools are HP Wolf Security and HP Sure Admin, which Barry said “provides modern security for PC firmware configuration management by enabling remote administrators to securely manage BIOS settings” and “enables field support personnel to obtain secure in-person access to BIOS setup.”

The HP Federal COO cited the company’s zero trust adoption and efforts to align with the guidelines of the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

Barry also cited the importance of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program in protecting the defense industrial base.
