Kathryn Simpson Elevated to Corporate VP, General Counsel Post at Northrop

Kathryn Simpson, an 11-year Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) executive, has assumed the corporate vice president and general counsel role at the Falls Church, Virginia-headquartered aerospace and defense contractor, according to a LinkedIn post published Tuesday.

She was elevated to the post after serving as VP and associate general counsel of Northrop’s mission systems business for nearly three years, providing guidance for the $10 billion subsidiary that offers advanced mission technologies for defense and intelligence customers.

Simpson said she will report to Kathy Warden, president and CEO of Northrop and an eight-time Wash100 awardee, and will work with a team of lawyers in her new capacity.

The executive joined Northrop in 2012 as VP and general counsel following a 17-year career with the legacy Raytheon company, where she was VP of legal, corporate transactions and governance.

Before that, Simpson was attorney-adviser at the U.S. International Trade Commission and associate in the securities department and international transactions practice group at Foley and Lardner.
