HHS Office Seeks Partnerships for Follow-On Medical Countermeasures Accelerator Program

The Department of Health and Human Services’ Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority has begun seeking proposals for the second iteration of its accelerator program to advance the rapid development and commercialization of medical countermeasures.

A notice posted Wednesday on SAM.gov states that BARDA Accelerator Network 2.0 aims to develop and market MCM products for therapeutics and vaccines; diagnostics and medical devices; digital health; enabling technologies; and special populations.

BARDA will enter into other transaction authority agreements with five or more Accelerator Hub organizations to provide resources and support to health security innovators, start-ups and existing partners.

The selected accelerators will also help BARDA perform product development, evaluation and validation of MCMs based on its strategic priority and build a rapid emergency response infrastructure to accelerate response to a public health emergency.

BARDA has set separate response dates for each technology area, the earliest on Sept. 15 for diagnostics and medical devices and the latest on Jan. 12, 2024, for digital health and special populations.
