SpaceX Receives NASA CubeSat Launch Task Order

SpaceX has secured a task order to launch small satellite payloads into orbit under NASA’s CubeSat Launch Initiative program.

The two CSLI missions will launch onboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket no earlier than 2025 as part of the agency’s Venture-Class Acquisition of Dedicated and Rideshare initiative, NASA said Tuesday.

Specific payloads included in the missions will be announced before the launch schedule.

SpaceX is among the 13 vendors that offer Federal Aviation Administration-licensed commercial launch services for CubeSats and Class D payloads under the $300 million VADR contract vehicle.

NASA’s Launch Services Program at Kennedy Space Center in Florida manages the program missions.
