RTX to Deliver Force Element Communication Terminals to USAF Under $625M Contract

RTX (NYSE: RTX) has secured a $625 million contract to produce and deliver Force Element Terminals, one of the two types belonging to the Family of Advanced Beyond Line-of-Sight Terminals program of the U.S. Air Force.

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite quantity award covers equipment procurement, depot activation, research and contractor support for logistics and other activities relevant to the FET subprogram, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.

The FAB-T program was established to provide extensive satellite communication capabilities to airborne and ground-based fleets. FET is designed for airborne forces while Command Post Terminals are meant to replace airborne as well as ground-fixed and ground-transportable terminals of the Milstar satcom system.

RTX is expected to work on FETs in Massachusetts and Florida until June 30, 2034.

The service branch is obligating funds from the fiscal 2023 research, development, test and evaluation budget at the time of the award.

The contracting activity for the sole source acquisition is the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center in Bedford, Massachusetts.
