Lockheed Unit Lands Potential $1.2B Award for US, UK Trident Missile Support Services

The space business of Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) will produce submarine-launched fleet ballistic missiles and support deployed systems for both the U.S. and U.K. navies under a potential $1.2 billion contract modification.

This award for Trident II D5 support services has a face value of $581.2 million, with the U.S. Navy obligating $147.1 million in fiscal 2023 funds on the sole-source procurement, according to a Department of Defense notice posted Tuesday.

The U.K. procures the weapon via the Pentagon’s foreign military sales program.

Lockheed’s space business serves as the prime contractor of production efforts related to the Trident missile system and related equipment.

The system is currently aboard submarines in the U.S. Ohio and British Vanguard classes.
