Lockheed, Sparton, Ultra Awarded $5.1B in Sonobuoy IDIQ Contract Modifications

Three companies have secured contract modifications worth up to $5.1 billion combined over a five-year period for sonobuoy production and delivery services to the U.S. Navy.

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), Sparton and Sonobuoy Systems, formerly Ultra USSI, can pursue individual orders through exercised options under an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract the branch previously awarded, the Department of Defense said Monday.

The service is procuring portable sonar systems across bathythermograph, multistatic source and receiver, and passive and active/passive combo categories.

Orders could also include support for Naval Munitions Requirements Process-based major combat operations such as annual training, peacetime, inventory and testing expenditures.

Contractors will perform work at their respective facilities located in Virginia, Indiana and Florida.
