He replaces Eric Crooker, who held the position for four years and transitioned to a new role as VP of infrastructure and sustainability, the company said Monday.
In his new role, Fitts will report to Keith Munn, VP of business management and chief financial officer at Ingalls Shipbuilding, and oversee contract award and administration, export and import licensing and compliance and estimating and pricing.
Fitts has managed several legal and contracts administration functions for Ingalls Shipbuilding during his almost nine-year career at HII. He most recently served as director of contract administration responsible for supporting the negotiation of contract awards for military ships and vehicles.
He joined Ingalls Shipbuilding in 2013 as a senior counsel, a role he held for more than four years, according to his LinkedIn profile.
